A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone to hold a crown, a bridge or a full set of teeth. In Türkiye there is no official “implantologist” title. Implants are placed by oral and maxillofacial surgeons, by periodontists (gum specialists) and by general dentists who have done further implant training. The crown or bridge on top is often planned by a prosthodontist.
So when a clinic says “our implantologist”, ask what that dentist’s title is on the Ministry register, and how many implants they place in a typical month.
